During the May 17 broadcast of SBS PowerFM’s Wendy’s Young Street, BTS Jin shared behind-the-scenes stories from filming the MV for “Don’t Say You Love Me”, the title track from his newly released second mini-album Echo.

“I’d give myself a 1.2 out of 10,” Jin said modestly when asked to rate his acting performance. “It was my first time acting with someone outside of BTS, so I didn’t know what I was doing on set. I felt both sorry and thankful to Shin Se-kyung.” Despite his nerves, Jin added, “After seeing the final result, I was relieved.”

The cinematic music video has been praised for its emotional storytelling, portraying a couple on the brink of separation despite lingering love. Shin Se-kyung‘s performance, paired with Jin’s raw vulnerability, has resonated strongly with fans.

Host Wendy was quick to reassure Jin, saying, “I thought it was amazing—definitely a 10 out of 10.”

Jin went on to describe how Shin helped him through particularly difficult scenes. “There was a part where I had to shout, but I couldn’t do it well,” he recalled. “I noticed Shin Se-kyung was mouthing the lines without sound, so I followed her lead. She guided me really well.”

He also shared a moment from a confrontation scene: “I told her to pretend to hit me and that I’d block everything—turns out it looked pretty good on screen.”

Though Jin humbly insists he’s “not an actor,” his emotional delivery has struck a chord with fans and critics alike. “Even though I wanted to express emotions, it didn’t come out easily. It was really tough,” he admitted.

With Echo and its evocative MV now out in the world, Jin has once again proven his artistic range—this time, with a little help from a seasoned actress and a whole lot of heart.
